“Party.” originated from a stand-up comedy skit.
In the skit, the comedian describes being in different situations and awkwardly using the word “Party” in response to those situations.
Amongst a friend group, we began saying “Party.” to each other when someone would do something awkward. The word “Party.” created space for us to recognize an uncomfortable situation, laugh about it, and have a do-over. Saying “Party.” evolved into a form of agreement or respect and a way of greeting each other (similar to a fist bump or a high-five). Saying “Party.” developed into something with such powerful meaning that it inspired the friend group of 15 to get “Party.” tattoos.
